So Casey informed me that I needed to update this. A lot has happened since I wrote last. We went home for a BBQ/shower on August 26th. It was nice to have a co-ed get together so that Casey's friends could be there as well as some of mine and our male relatives. It's really nice to be able to see everyone since we don't come home very often and, when we do, we have to cram a ton into just a few days. We got so many wonderful gifts and lots of teeny baby clothes...we really appreciate all the gifts that we got. I don't know if anyone reads this but, if you do, thank you!
Since the shower, I feel like I have grown exponentially. I know I know....I have a long way to go and will get far bigger. At any given time, however, I am bigger than I've ever been. I wake up in the morning, and I'm bigger than I was yesterday...and so on and so forth. I'm really starting to look like I'm hiding some basketball under my shirt. Along with a couple of softballs up above if you get my drift.
The baby has been kicking a ton lately, most often between the hours of 12am-3am and when I cross my legs, bend over, or drive. He seems to like as much space as possible and has no problem letting me know that I'm cramping his style. He also seems to be sucking all my available energy. I love work but it's been pretty crazy lately and there have been many nights where I don't get home until 8pm. Casey has had a lot of free time for video games because I usually suck dinner down and then pass out on the couch until he wakes me to move to the bedroom.
I'm going camping with some girlfriends this weekend, I think it will be fun to get away and do something besides sleeping and going to work--my life has gotten pretty boring lately! I will post some pictures on here soon.

Summertime fun
We haven't been up to much lately, besides doing some re-organizing around our place. Last weekend, we participated in the Seattle Humane Society Walk for the Animals (www.seattlehumane.org) and had a great time. We got up really early since we had to be there at 8am, so we look a little sleepy in the pictures. It started at Redmond Town Center and was about a 2 mile walk. Tonka had a good time but he acted like a total maniac for a large portion of the event. There was lots of pulling on the leash, choking and hacking (from pulling on the leash), extreme panting, and butt sniffing.
Thank you to everyone who donated, it was a big success!

I also posted a funny video of him on youtube that Casey took...
We will be home Wednesday afternoon through Monday...can't wait to see anyone who can make it at the shower on Saturday!!

Updates!

I got a new haircut last week! I know you can't see my eyes in this one...it felt really liberating to chop it all off! I think I'll keep it like this for a while.
Casey and I have been walking the dog a lot at night. The weather has been really nice and we're so lucky to live right across the street from the water. There are really beautiful sunsets over Lake Washington. I love the summers here! I've also posted a belly pic for everyone that has been asking for them...I'm feeling larger than life! I can't even imagine how I'm going to feel in a few months. There will be NO bare stomachs shown so don't even ask...

Casey and I have been fixing our place up a lot lately. It feels good to be making some progress! We got some new lamps today and have a new entertainment center coming sometime later this week. We'd like to start doing some painting and really fix the place up for my family and any other visitors we have in the winter/spring. We are really excited to come home for the shower and see everybody. Mary is working on invites and they should be out soon. Save the date! August 25th!

What is a post without the pugster? Tonka always likes to sleep in after we've gotten up. Like for hours. We'll be up eating breakfast, watching tv, getting our day started when he will finally wander out looking dazed and confused. He especially likes it when he throw the covers over him when we get up.

Tonka's visitor
Leah's french bulldog, Miss Piggy, came to visit a weeks ago for the night. Even though the pics are a few weeks behind, I think they're too good to pass up sharing!
They spent the day snorting, barking, drooling, biting, and sleeping. And schnozzling, which is like a combination of sneezing and drooling. This is a disgusting art that Tonka has perfected, especially when he's playing and really close to your face.
Good times were had by all. All action shots courtesy of Casey and his mad camera skills.

Camping and other weekend fun
So I just started this and I'm already bad about writing in it...
Last weekend, Casey and I went to a "pick your own" raspberry field. We ended up with over 3 pounds of raspberries so I decided to try to make a pie for the first time. The crust caved in a little but, other than that, I was quite proud of myself!

We then went, that night, and had to check out the Kwik-E-Mart in Seattle. A few 7-11's across the country were changed for the Simpsons Movie...very funny!!

This weekend, we went camping! We're trying to keep busy and make use of all the great camping equiptment we have and spend more time exploring the Seattle area. We took the Ferry to Bainbridge Island and spent the night right on the Puget Sound at Fay Bainbridge State Park. It was really beautiful and relaxing, and only took us about an hour to get there (30 min to drive to the ferry, 25 minutes on the ferry).

First post
I'll try and keep this updated. I'm not really sure what I'm going to write about but I think most people know that I can always find something to say.
Although this is supposed to be primarily about my pregnancy for my family that lives across the country, I have a feeling that it will revolve mostly around Tonka. How can it not? He is fascinating, quirky, makes weird noises, and it's very endearing the way his eyes shoot off in entirely separate directions. Right now he is snoring under the blanket on the couch (even though he's already slept for 12 hours, he's not quite ready to start the day yet). I know how he feels.
More later...
